Studio Iron in the 21st Century
Where do we go from here? What lies ahead in contemporary cast iron studio practice? A cadre of renowned artists, professors, and presenters will discuss where we are now and where they anticipate our movement will be directed as we move beyond the first decade of the new millennium. What kind of changes, new technologies, or practices are emerging and where they might head as we move forward with creating in cast iron.
Confirmed panelists for this event: Mary Neubauer, Coral Lambert, Merideth Jack, and Aaron McCaffery
Origins of Contemporary Cast Iron Art in the United States
A small group of artists who were involved in the emergence of contemporary cast iron art will be assembled to discuss some of the candid moments that they experienced on and just above the ground floor of this movement some 50 years ago. This is more than a historical treatment; this panel will include anecdotal commentary on some of the issues and concerns that may be taken for granted in the present, but were important avenues of discovery leading to the refinement and growth of this studio practice here in the United States.
Confirmed panelists for this event: Wayne Potratz, Gerry Dumlao, Harry Leippe, and Cliff Prokop.
