Flaming Sculpture Walk
In conjunction with the 2018 Western Cast Iron Art Alliance’s 6thannual Conference in Granite City IL. “Flaming Sculptures” is to be displayed for a one night “Sculpture Walk” exhibition in conjunction with the WCIAA Conference. This exhibition will be the evening of Friday October 5 happening concurrently with a performance iron casting event and gallery exhibitions. The intent is for artworks to be stand alone forms that DO NOT require the use of a furnace or molten metal. Artworks will be welded steel and refractory objects that may shoot flames, glow or otherwise incorporate fire in their design. Bonfires or burn down structures are not appropriate for this exhibition though wood fires in resilient structures are acceptable. Artworks will be safe for public display and fire must be containable.
Conference will provide: 1-100lb bottle of propane
110 electricity for their artwork.
4’x4’ display site
Artist will provide:
Proof of safe operation
Artworks will be stable and structurally sound self supporting structures that can be staked to the ground.
Artists or artist teams must be on site with artwork for the duration of their “Burn.”
